Android Ringtone Maker (MP3 / OGG)
Cut your favourite part of a track and export it as an MP3 or OGG that Android can use as a ringtone, notification or alarm. There is no length limit and nothing is uploaded.
The conversion engine (about 32 MB) loads once on your first run and starts instantly from cache afterwards.
Making the ringtone
Load a track and select the section you want on the waveform. Ringtones work well at 20–30 seconds and notification sounds at 3–5 seconds. Half a second to two seconds of fade in and fade out keeps the start and end from sounding abrupt. Pick MP3 for maximum compatibility or OGG for a smaller file.
Installing it on Android
If you made it on the phone, the file lands in Downloads. Long-press the .mp3 in a file manager — many phones offer "Set as ringtone" right there. Otherwise move it into the Ringtones folder in internal storage (Notifications or Alarms for the other kinds), then pick it in Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone. From a computer, copy it into the same folder over USB.
How this differs from iPhone
Android is relaxed about formats and length: MP3, OGG, WAV and M4A all work, at any duration. iPhone only accepts .m4r files of 40 seconds or less, so use the dedicated iPhone ringtone page for those.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a ringtone be?
20 to 30 seconds is plenty — most phones loop the tone while ringing, so a longer file rarely plays through. Use 3 to 5 seconds for notification sounds and around 30 seconds for alarms.
Should I choose MP3 or OGG?
Choose MP3 if you are unsure; every Android device plays it. OGG Vorbis gives a smaller file at the same quality and is what Android ships its own tones in.
My new tone does not appear in Settings.
Check the file is inside the Ringtones folder. If it still does not show up, the media scanner has probably not indexed it: restart the phone, or move the file to another folder and back with a file manager.
