Supported video formats
MP4, MOV (including iPhone recordings), WebM, MKV, AVI, FLV and 3GP all work, whatever codec the audio inside uses — AAC, MP3 or Opus. The video track is discarded at read time, so even large files finish reasonably quickly.
Choosing an output format
MP3 for maximum compatibility, M4A if the file is heading for an iPhone or Mac, WAV if you are importing it into an editor for more work. MP3 and M4A also let you pick a bitrate: 128 kbps is plenty for speech, 192 kbps or more for music.

Is my video uploaded?
No. Extraction runs in your browser through a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg, so there is no upload wait and the contents never leave your machine.
Can I extract audio from a YouTube link?
No. This tool works on files you already have; it cannot download from a URL. Use footage you recorded or otherwise have the rights to.
Will the audio lose quality?
Choose WAV and the extraction is lossless. MP3 and M4A are re-encoded, but picking a bitrate at or above the original audio makes the difference hard to hear.
